August Update

John’s sweetcorn is in and it is AWESOME! Our pickles are coming in by the 1/2 bushel. Come in or call to reserve yours. Garnet Beauty peaches are being picked. These stick to the pit but are sweet and juicy. Nectarines can be mixed with the peaches as they are the same price. Red Havens will be starting end of the week next week. I hope in time for the weekend of Aug 7. Still a few apricots on the tree and plenty in the cooler. Apricot canning workshop this Thur 8/5 call for info. I’m planning a corn freezing party so keep a watch on my blogg for info. I will set date and time when corn is perfect for cutting off the cob. Get a group together, cook cut and bag corn. Then divide the costs between group and divide the bags and all will have corn in the freezer. Watch blogg for info. Anyone want to do a pickle party. I would need a leader but I would have the pickles and the place. Call me 231-544-6479. Betsy

I would like to learn how to can apricots. And peaches too, when you get right down to it. It’s midnight so I won’t call right now . . . but save me a spot, OK? This is a really good idea.

We are finished with strawberries for the season, and in a raspberry lull for just a little while. The raspberries are ever-bearing though, so we will have more for fall. Right now, we have Red Haven peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums, Bay City honeyrock and watermelon, summer squash, zucchini, acorn, butternut and buttercup squash, slicing tomatoes, cucumbers, pickling cukes and gherkins, onions, red potatoes, Michigan blueberries (last of the fresh and a few frozen), green and wax beans, green peppers, and sweet corn.
