Our New Year’s resolution is to eat more fruit! Since it is still apple season here on the farm, we thought we would share our favorite apple recipes and uses at King Orchards.

4. Dress Up Your Salad
Add fresh sliced King Orchards’ apples and King Orchards’ Dried Tart Cherries to any salad for a new twist on salad!
3. Easy Homemade Applesauce
Peel, core, and cut your favorite mix of apples (we always think a mix of varieties makes for the best applesauce) and let them sit in the crockpot until they have reached your desired consistency. No need to add sugar, but it is always an option! (For the extra easy way, pick up a bag of our own frozen, sliced and peeled apples at the fruit stand.)

2. Apples on Pizza
This may sound a little goofy, but you will be surprised how delicious it is! It adds a fresh feel to your pizza with a nice crunch. Choose your apples wisely for this one. Stick with a firm apple more on the tart side– our recommendation would be a Mutsu. One of our favorites is apple, bacon, spinach and Gouda cheese but get creative and let us know what your favorite is!
1. Eat out of Hand!
This is pretty self explanatory. There is nothing like taking a bite of a crunchy Mutsu (AKA Crispin) first thing in the morning or beginning your lunch with the juice from a Honeycrisp dripping down your chin. Apples can be transformed into all different things, but our favorite way at King Orchards is just simply eating fresh out of hand!
As you can see, apples can be incorporated into any meal! At King Orchards, we eat a lot of apples and are always trying to get creative with our apple recipes. Feel free to share your favorite ways to eat apples (or any of our fruit) because we can always use more suggestions!
