Rack and cloth cider press
We just finished pressing our first batch of unpasteurized apple cider! We are making small batch cider using an older style rack and cloth press. We start by putting the apples through a grinder then pumping the crushed apples onto a cheese cloth. We then stack them by putting a plastic rack between each cheese cloth. When we have stacked them as tall as possible, we slide the tower of crushed apples into the press and pump the cider into our holding tanks and then into jugs as soon as the tanks are full and done blending. We have cider available in both our markets for $5/gallon and $3/half gallon.
