Caramel Apple Dump Cake

Preheat oven to 350F. Peel, core, and THINLY slice 5 apples (we like a mix of varieties), then place them in a greased 13 x 9″ pan.
Then, in a medium sauce pan, melt 1 stick of butter over medium heat. Whisk in 3 Tbsp. of flour, let it come to a boil and whisk constantly for another 1 minute. Then add;
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. apple pie spice

Let that come to a boil and stir frequently for 3 minutes. Then pour over the apples. Add 1 1/2 cups Kraft caramels (halved or quartered) over the apples.

Sprinkle 1 box yellow cake mix over apple mixture. Add 2 sticks of butter – sliced in 1/4 inch pats – evenly over cake mix.

Bake 45 minutes at 350F.
