Posts for Local Farm Markets

From Michigan and have moved away or want to surprise that special someone with a taste of Northern Michigan’s fall? Maybe you should think about Michigan apple shipping straight from the grower! We have one of THE most spectacular Honeycrisp years ever this year! They are absolutely beautiful– sweet, tangy, and crunchy! We are also growing and shipping some of the best McIntosh in the state right now. They are great for pie makers or people who just can’t turn down eating a fresh crisp McIntosh right out of hand. One of my personal favorite apples, the Gingergold, is at the peak flavor right now. We won’t have these much longer so order them while they are still available! Gala apples will be the next variety to become available– most likely next week. These are sweet and crunchy with that beautiful pink color.

We will be shipping, for our first year ever, an old favorite– the Snow apple! This is one of the oldest dessert apples, great for eating, cider, or baking with. Cortland apples will also be coming soon which is a lot of people’s favorite apple sauce variety. Check out our apple variety guide to find out more about the apples we grow at our orchard in Northern Michigan. We live in an area that produces some of the best apples in the world due to our fantastic micro climate– cold fall nights and warm, sunny fall days.

Check out the apple gift boxes we offer. We hand select every apple and package our apples in foam shipping boxes so the apples arrive to you in perfect condition! Give us a call if you would like to custom build your own apple gift box with some of our famous cherry products 877-937-5464.

We have officially opened apple u-pick on Gingergolds! They are available at both of our markets as well. We also have a few Zestars, Sansas, and Paula Reds. The price on apples are $12/half bushel, $8/peck, and $5/half peck. Honeycrisp apples are not far behind. The cold nights followed by sunny days really help add color and flavor to the Honeycrisp apples.

We also have raspberry u-pick available at both of our markets. Fall is the big time for u-pick raspberries so be sure you check those out!

31-mktOur markets are filled with wonderful Michigan produce! From our own gardens, we have pickling cucs, slicing cucumbers, yellow squash and zucchini. We have some amazing produce from our friendly neighbors to the south in Bay City. That includes sweet corn, melons, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, potatoes, and green beans. We also have dried beans from Carlson-Arbogast Farms in Howard City. We also still have sweet cherries available in our markets along with Balaton tart cherries. The Early Golden plums are starting to roll in and apricots are coming on heavy in the markets. U-pick apricots are slowly ripening and will be coming in waves so be sure to call before you make the trip to see how picking is for that particular day.

FJK_1340 The Montmorency tart cherries are almost ripe and ready to pick! We should be in full swing by the weekend if we get some warmer weather. We will still have pick your own sweet cherries available as well. We do have a commercial sweet cherry pitter and tart cherry pitter so we can pit the cherries you pick to make freezing and storing even easier! Pick your own sweet cherries are $1.50/lb and tart cherries will be $1.00/lb. We will be selling sweet cherries at the Gaylord Farmers Market Wednesday and Saturday this week and the Elk Rapids Farmers Market Friday.
