Cherry Concentrate vs Tart Cherry Capsules
We always get the question; is your cherry juice concentrate better or your cherry capsules? There is no “right” answer to this question. It is better to inform you on how these two products are made.
- Montmorency Cherry Juice Concentrate is made by pressing the cherries, extracting the juice, then concentrating (taking out the water).
- Montmorency Cherry Capsules are made by taking the skin and pulp after these cherries are pressed and freeze drying that into a powder.
- Montmorency tart cherry powder is then put into a veggie capsule.
We have some customers who only drink the concentrate, some who only take the capsules, and some who take both.
Imitators Abound – ALWAYS READ THE LABEL!
Many brands of Tart Cherry Concentrate are actually using imported cherries in their concentrate. Support your local grower! Montmorency tart cherries are a U.S. grown product so don’t be fooled by other imported varieties of cherries like the Morello that is grown in Poland.
The advantage to buying from King Orchards is that you are ALWAYS buying cherries grown in the USA!
Are your cherry products organic?
Terry,
We are very proud of our farming practices, and strive to take care of our land, our trees, and our community. We use a combination of regenerative, organic, and integrated pest management solutions on our farm. This combination of practices lets us take care of our farm the way that we feel is best. Because we farm in northern Michigan, where we get a lot of rain, use of certain fungicides is necessary to prevent mold on our fruit. In addition, we test our 100% Montmorency tart cherry concentrate every year for purity standards. I hope this answers your question.

Hi I have Covid and one thing they suggest is to drink 2 glasses of tart cherry juice per day. Is that too much when drinking the concentrate?
Hi Beth, it is just fruit so I wouldn’t be too worried. We recommend 1 oz. of concentrate to 7 oz. of water.
