Our frozen Michigan tart cherries are packaged in a Styrofoam cooler with (5) 4 lb. bags resealable freezer bag with out ice packs nor dry ice. This is the perfect package for someone wanting to make a few pies with high quality frozen Michigan tart cherries (we recommend 2 lbs. per pie). These cherries are Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) which makes them very easy to use a cup at a time. Since fresh tart cherries are only available for a few weeks, these frozen cherries have proven to be an excellent alternative. They are harvested and frozen at their peak ripeness to preserve quality, texture, and flavor. Available in two varieties; Montmorency and Balaton. The Montmorency is the traditional pie cherry, bright red in color and very tart in flavor. The Balaton is a slightly sweeter tart cherry, darker in color and more firm than the Montmorency. Both work great in desserts and jam.
