The second weekend of Apple Days at King Orchards runs Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, at our farm in Central Lake, Michigan.
A different orchard than a week ago
Apples don’t all ripen at once. Varieties come on through October, so the second weekend of Apple Days picks differently than the first. If you came out on the 3rd or 4th, there will be new varieties ready and different rows open for u-pick. Worth a second trip, and a good reason to compare notes on which apple won you over.
U-pick apples and the farm stand
Our u-pick orchard is open both days, with bags and bushel boxes here when you arrive. If picking isn’t your thing, the farm stand has fresh-picked apples ready to go, along with everything else that comes out of the orchard this time of year.
This is also the weekend to think about storage. Some varieties eat best right off the tree, and others, Honeycrisp especially, will keep in a cold fridge until spring. Ask us and we’ll point you to the right rows.
Cider, pumpkins and the last of the fall color
Fresh-pressed cider, pumpkins, winter squash and gourds are all here. Mid-October has amazing fall colors in Antrim County, so the drive up M-88 is worth the trip on its own.
Plan your visit
Apple Days is free, with no tickets or reservations. The farm is an easy drive from Traverse City, Elk Rapids, Charlevoix and Petoskey.
