The strawberries are looking great. We should have them through the 4th. It has been a little hard keeping a constant supply of strawberries, but we are trying to keep up the best we can. The picking should become more consistent in the next couple days once it stops raining.
Jim brought in a couple cherries from the trees today and they look like they are coming along wonderfully. They still need a little time to get bigger and darker. We are looking at them being ready between the 10th and 15th of July.
Hi, I am looking for fresh or fresh frozen tart cherries in bulk. Will you have any available? we live in Vermont. is there a method of shipment that is reasonable in price. We get currants from NY with no problem.
Appreciate your advice,
Thanks,
Joni
We expect our Montmorency tart cherries will be ready within the next week. We don’t ship them fresh because they are extremely perishable; they tend to oxidize and turn brown very quickly.
We do ship fresh Balaton cherries, usually toward the end of July or first of August. Balatons are a morello-style cherry. They’re firmer and hold up a lot better during shipping than the Monts. We sometimes refer to them as the sweet-tart cherry, because they are a bit sweeter than the Montmorency tart cherry. They are great for baking and cooking, or for a simple snack.
We ship both varieties of frozen sour cherries from November through March, when the weather is cooler.
