This is the time of the year when people begin asking about the orchard blossom schedule. This is always hard to predict but we want to keep everyone as up to date as possible since it tends to be short lived but an absolutely beautiful sight to see. The orchard blossoms are dependent on the temperature and, as most northern Michiganders know, we have had relatively cold weather for mid-late April (it snowed yesterday), which means the blossoms are running a little later than usual. We just checked out our apricot trees (which are the first to blossom) and they still need quite a bit of time. We don’t expect anything before May 8th. After the apricots begin blossoming, they are then followed by sweet cherries, peaches and nectarines, tart cherries, and lastly apples. We usually end up with about 3 weeks of blossoms between all the trees. Continue to follow our website and blog for more up to date blossom information.
